Our instinct imprint moments, that we consider worthwhile to us and stores it as memories, for a part or our entire life. Artists are those section of people who channelize these memories through the stroke of a brush to paint their emotions and bonds on a beautiful canvas. Such is the strength of the affinity with those underlying emotions, that the artist aims not to create a masterpiece, but paint their state of mind to perfection. Such was the man Paul Gauguin.

Inspiration

Born in the late 19th century in the artistic capital of  Paris, Paul Gauguin interestingly drew inspiration for visual arts not from the bonds of Paris. His fond memories of childhood from Peru, where he lived initially for 7 years after the birth, served as the source of emotional attachments. He always wished to get back to Peru but under various circumstances, he couldn’t. His initial paintings are distinctly inspired by the Peru way of life. With no formal training in arts, he used his brushes to paint from the treasure trove of fond memories he created in Peru. Thus, this clearly describes the importance of emotions and the ability to channelize it among artists for creations of expressive and meaningful paintings.

The Paul Gauguin Way Of Painting

The absence of any prior art formal training provided Paul Gauguin with a tool to exploit informal ways of painting. Moreover, he believed that fixing and not changing colors of every object in the art form is a  stumbling block for an artist. He defied these conventional methods and tools of paintings. Thus his paintings gave a form of post-impressionist artwork.  This style of painting encouraged him to try new subjects, techniques, and perspectives to express his emotions. His works are exemplary of the fact, that the imaginations are best expressed in artwork when they are left at their will and liberty. A person needs only an observing mind to absorb the best expressions of the surroundings and paint it on the canvas. Thus, such artwork, according to him, is a revolution in its own way.

Discovering The Hidden Paul Gauguin

Artists are not by birth but by will. The primary profession of Paul Gauguin clearly justified it. Working at a bank and painting during his free time, what he started as a mere interest turned into a mainstream passion for him at the age of 35. His way of expressing thoughts with paintings empowered the common man to wake up the artistic capabilities in them.
